Winter blues

Hey guys!

I don’t know about you guys but I usually dread winter. The fact that it gets dark early and t’s really cold, makes me bummed out. I tend to lose motivation during these winter months. The lack of sunshine discourages me from going out and taking charge of the day. Most people I know are similar to me in this sense so, I thought I would share some tips to overcome the winter blues. 

  1. Sunshine: Take advantage of the little sunshine we get. Try to go out and do something so you at least get up, get out, and get moving.
  2. Self-care: This is the perfect time to indulge in some self-care activities. Whether it’s shopping, working out, or having a spa day, do things that make you happy. 
  3. Socialize: Isolating when you’re feeling bummed out just reinforces those negative emotions so try to socialize and reach out to friends. Seeing friends and catching up will get you out of your low mood.
  4. Lighten up: Although nothing beats natural sunshine, studies show that being in a well lit environment can help improve your mood. I completely agree with this tip! I love going to Target since it’s so bright in there, more reason to love Target right? 

I have lived in Minnesota for most of my life, and winters here can feel like a lifetime. That’s why it’s important to learn ways to overcome the winter blues. I hope these tips were helpful. Let me know how you combat the winter blues in the comment section!
